Yes! Natural stone floors do need to be sealed and can last up to 30 years. Sealing can alter the color of the stone slightly, so it is important to expect variation. Sealing is needed to protect the stone from stains. Think spaghetti sauce on a backsplash, or colored shampoos or body washes in the shower… You will want the stone to be protected with sealer. Also, stone in general is a 100% natural material so no 2 pieces will be exactly alike! This is what adds to the beauty of the final installation, but it is something to anticipate before forming your expectations of the overall look.

Marble is very durable, but is susceptible to scratches because it is softer than granite and stones. Be sure to add protective covers or padding to furniture to prevent chips and scratches.
