Laminate is mostly made with a thin printed veneer made to look like wood, over a compressed core. In
some cases, it may have a piece of thin wood veneer, over the compressed core. The traditional
laminates with a printed graphic veneer on top of the fiberboard core, are highly scratch resistant.
Vinyl Plank and sheet vinyl are made with polyvinyl chloride resins (a type of plastic) that have been
melted down and combined with a series of other elements and then pressed together into a plank or
sheet product. Vinyl products will be scratch resistant and dent resistant, with a thinner profile.
In some cases, yes. You can place new flooring on top of sheet vinyl or tile depending on the age, condition, stability and quality of the current flooring. Our team would be happy to assess the condition of your current floors to see if installing new flooring on top is a possibility.
