The Role

The Showroom Manager & Flooring Designer is responsible for ensuring that every customer who enters our showroom has an exceptional experience from the moment they walk through the door.

The Showroom Manager & Flooring Designer will be responsible for:

  • Greeting guests as they enter the showroom, assessing their flooring needs and budget, and helping with walk-in design requests.
  • Some reception work; such as answering phones, taking payment, recording notes in client files.
  • Meeting with homebuilder clients to select materials for their new home.
  • Assisting homeowners with selecting the right color, texture, and type of flooring for their space.
  • Maintaining a calendar of design appointments and following-up throughout the process to ensure satisfaction and promote strong customer relationships.
  • Proactively manage multiple ongoing design projects.
  • Staying current on flooring design trends and make educated recommendations to customers.
  • Recording all flooring & tile selections in a “selection schedule” template with detailed info for each customers’ specific products & designs.
  • Including perspective or elevation sketches of tile layout/design will be a plus.
  • Maintaining showroom displays and maintaining vendor/sales rep relationships.
  • Working with marketing representatives to evaluate advertising metrics & review marketing content.

Qualities The Right Candidate Will Have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including in-person, over email, and on the phone.
  • Understanding of basic sales techniques and willingness to learn and adapt to our sales approach.
  • Passion for home design, particularly flooring and custom tile work, as well as an understanding of current design trends for color, texture, patterns, etc.
  • Good grasp of basic math skills.
  • Ability to read construction documents such as “blueprints” and elevations.
  • Understanding wholesale pricing versus retail pricing and the different business relationships that require discussing each type of price point.
  • Go-getter, entrepreneurial spirit and strong organizational and time management skills.

Requirements:

  • Sales: 1-3 years
  • Interior Design: 1-3 years
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Availability to work evenings and Saturdays, as needed.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in direct, flooring or construction-related sales (training will be provided).
